Robert Kolář (SK)

He studied musicology at the Faculty of Arts, at Comenius University in Bratislava, where he later worked as an assistant professor. Since 2008 he has been working as the editor of the monthly Hudobný život. As a trumpet player (flute / cornet and other wind instruments), he has been involved in various forms of improvisation since 2005 – as a member of the improvisation groups Musica falsa et ficta, Frutti di Mare and several occasional ensembles (V4 SoundLab, Mi-65, etc.). He has also collaborated with VENI Ensemble, VENI ACADEMY and Cluster ensemble, and participated in the recording of some of their projects as well as film and stage music. Since 2015, he has been a member of the jazz quartet Voľný pád. He is currently studying composition at the Academy of Performing Arts in the class of Marián Lejava. At JAMA, he will present three graphic scores by Milan Adamčiak in the open air – Modelli per tromba / cornetto solo, Labyrinto and The Green Piece – which he has decided to conceptually connect with a trumpet fanfare from Charles Ives’s composition The Unanswered Question.
