Daniel Matej (SK)

Slovak composer, conductor, performer, musicologist, pedagogue and organizer of musical life. He studied music theory and composition at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava, at the Conservatoire national supérieur in Paris and at the Koninklijk Conservatorium in The Hague. He worked in Berlin as a “composer-in-residence” within the DAAD art program. He is the initiator, founder and artistic director of many music groups and projects, including VENI ensemble, VENI ACADEMY, VAPORI del CUORE or Mi-65. As a musician, he has collaborated with Louis Andriessen, Gavin Bryars, Christian Fennesz, Steve Reich, Elliott Sharp and many other foreign and domestic artists. His works are regularly performed in Slovakia as well as abroad.
