Catherine Lamb is a composer and violist exploring the interaction of tones, summations of shapes and shadows, phenomenological expansions, states between outside/inside, empathy, and the long introduction form. She currently lives in Berlin, where she composes, performs, researches, teaches, and collaborates within the community, including projects she co-founded: Harmonic Space Orchestra, Singing By Numbers, and the musical collective Sacred Realism. She is one of the most sought-after artists of her generation in contemporary music, focusing on just intonation and microtonality. We got to know her through her workshop and concert two years ago at the Borealis Festival in Bergen – and fell in love.

At JAMA 78, she will present a new solo project for viola and voice, expanding on the core principles of her work from the last twenty years. She will also lead one of the Workshops 78, dedicated to singing and the interaction of tones within a space.
