VENI ACADEMY (SK)

VENI ACADEMY is a community of young people who have a desire to play music that one doesn’t normally encounter at school. They are taught how to play it by experienced teachers, especially the players of the VENI ensemble, who care about their artistic growth. During the almost fourteen years of its existence, the VENI ACADEMY project has grown to quite unexpected dimensions: from the initially modest intention – a creative environment for students of Slovak conservatories and music academies – the territory of those interested has gradually expanded, first to the former Czechoslovakia, and later to other European countries. More than 300 students are involved in VENI ACADEMY projects, not only from Europe.

VENI ACADEMY has given numerous concerts in a variety of settings, from concert halls, parks, shopping malls, or public trams, to large festivals. The ensemble has released two albums: 2013’s Rolling Tones/in zarter bewegung, which won the Radio_Head Awards for Best Album of the Year in the Classical Music category, and Dispersion (2018), featuring the music of legendary American composer and multi-instrumentalist Elliott Sharp, which was released on the American label Mode Records.

At JAMA 77, they will premiere a new program consisting of works by young composers from the Visegrad region, created specially for JAMA, accompanied by an interpretation of Milan Adamčiak’s scores.
